WCH and Meta Housing hosted the grand opening of 5400 Hollywood Family Apartments, a 40-unit community, serving low income families earning between 30% and 60% AMI, located in East Hollywood. The community offers one, two, and three-bedroom units, and is built atop 3,100 square feet of commercial space. The community is LEED Gold certified incorporating green design that promotes resident health and helps reduce utility demands, such as drought tolerant plant materials that conserve water. The transit-oriented community is located within walking distance to Hollywood/Western Red Line station, allowing residents easy access to transportation, employment opportunities, and community resources. Convenient access to transit can benefit residents by minimizing residents’ transportation costs and improving their mobility and sense of independence. Additional benefits include: healthier residents, more vibrant neighborhoods, stronger regional economies, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions, through reduced automobile use.
Designed around the concept of community, this community prioritizes large flexible, multi-functional spaces over private spaces, and features a rooftop deck, children’s play area, computer room, and clubhouse. By creating space for residents to interact, gather, and/or sit and relax, we hope to strengthen residents’ social connections, relieve stress, and enhance residents’ sense of safety and belonging.
