Through WCH Resident Services, residents can gain computer skills, improve English-language fluency, strengthen academic performance, receive onsite healthcare and education, and much, much more. WCH provides or oversees resident services at 63 affordable apartment communities in California, reaching approximately 4,559 individuals.

When working with a community to deliver a successful resident service program, WCH first conducts a comprehensive assessment of residents’ needs, goals, and interests, and of the resources already available in the surrounding area. Based on our assessment, WCH matches residents with appropriate, quality services by:

a) Connecting residents to existing neighborhood services; and/or

b) Designing and implementing an onsite program overseen by WCH experienced Resident Directors. All services are tailored to meet residents’ specific needs. We have designed curricula in three content areas – financial literacy, computer training, health and wellness – and offer a wide range of services including: ESL and computer classes, financial planning, health and fitness promotion services, social and recreational activities, guidance and materials on food and utility assistance, community gardens. Each service is reviewed quarterly to ensure we are applying the most effective, innovative, and efficient practices to our work; and/or

c) Negotiating and collaborating with third party service providers or local community organizations to accept residents into their programs and/or bring their services onsite. At WCH, we acknowledge that we alone cannot meet every community member’s needs; however, our years of experience have taught us how to recognize and establish successful partnerships with people who are doing really great work. When a community need is presented in an area that requires resources or expertise different from our own, we partner with one of our many qualified and reliable third party service providers or with a local community organization to meet that need and expand our service impact.
