Below are two communities that most reflect our commitment to affect positive change in both our residents and in the surrounding area we serve. First, both communities are eco-friendly, meaning green materials and processes were used to minimize waste and promote efficient use of resources. Green building provides direct benefits to residents by reducing energy consumption (reduced utility bills) and to the surrounding area by creating healthier living environments (improved quality of life/reduced ecological impact of the built environment). Second, both communities offer supportive housing to qualifying older adults with mental illness. The combination of a stable home with access to mental health and social services, medical care, counseling, education, and employment helps these individuals facing complex challenges reclaim their independence and health, and has proven to have positive effects on housing occupancy, employment, mental and physical health, and school attendance. WCH is proud to be part of these unique projects with wide-reaching impacts.
